Yes. All adult volunteers must complete a background check, as well as a sexual abuse awareness digital training before serving.

No specific skills are required…just a willingness to serve, a positive attitude, and the ability to follow camp guidelines.

No prior experience is required! Volunteers simply need to support campers in a fun and encouraging environment.

In most cases, the Host Church will welcome anyone who goes through the necessary background and training requirements.

Yes! Any high school student who volunteers will receive service hours through Kids on the Hill.

Besides a life-changing, memory making fun time?! You get a chance to see WinShape Camps from a distinct perspective, an opportunity to minister alongside a professionally trained staff, and a place to invest in families outside of a traditional church setting.

Commitment & Responsibilities

Volunteers must attend the “Sunday Show” on July 13th, a one-hour training session led by the camp’s Volunteer Director.

Volunteers are encouraged to serve the full camp week (July 14th-18th) for the best experience, but we understand that schedules vary. We’ll work with you to find a role that fits your availability. Hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00-5:00 and Friday 8:00-12:00, with a Family Fun Day Party immediately following dismissal on Friday.

Full-week volunteers are preferred, but we welcome part-time volunteers. Let us know your availability when you register.

Responsibilities vary by role but may include assisting with activities, supervising campers, serving meals, ensuring safety, and helping with set-up or clean-up.

No. Summer staff members will lead all Bible study sessions (Team Time), and volunteers assist with group engagement and activities.

No. A trained Summer Staff member leads each skill session. Volunteers assist, encourage campers, and help with organization.

Volunteers typically assist in small groups of about ten campers, alongside a trained Summer Staff leader.

Volunteers do not accompany children INTO the bathroom. Campers go in groups of at least two, and volunteers or staff wait OUTSIDE to supervise.

Yes! Volunteers will have breaks, and there are designated times to step away, hydrate, and recharge.

Physical Activity & Environment

Some roles involve outdoor activities like recreation and skills, while others are indoors. If you have concerns, let us know, and we’ll find the best fit.

Some roles require more movement, but there are options that involve less walking or standing, such as Check Point or Kitchen Crew.

Meals & Attire

Breakfast won’t be provided every day, so we encourage you to eat before arrival. We will, however, make lunch for all our volunteers as well as provide snacks along the way.

Volunteers are asked to wear a WinShape Camps Volunteer shirt provided by the Host Church. Volunteer dress should remain modest with comfortable shorts or pants (knee-length preferred) and closed-toe shoes. No sleeveless shirts are allowed.

We ask that volunteers keep phones put away during camp hours to stay engaged with campers.

Additional Questions

Campers engage in daily Bible lessons, worship, and faith-based discussions. Volunteers support these activities but are not required to lead them.

Summer Staff lead Bible studies, and volunteers assist with group engagement and activities.

Yes! You can help by praying for the camp, donating supplies, providing meals for Summer Staff, or helping with organization before camp starts.

Volunteer Roles

These volunteers participate in the camp day directly with campers and the Summer Staff. Ideally, this is a volunteer who can be present for the full day for the entire camp week. This is a great role for high school or college aged volunteers! They are the most available and have the energy to work directly with campers. When registering for this role, it will be listed as a “Bible Study” volunteer role.

This crew use’s the camp team’s provided materials and grocery items to assemble lunch meals and snack for the Summer Staff, volunteers, and occasional campers. This crew is a wonderful opportunity for involvement for those who are unable to commit to an entire day, they do not want to work directly with campers, or if there is a group of volunteers who are looking for a moderately active place to serve.

The Rec crew assists the Activities Director in setting up for Rec! This often includes organizing and storing camp Rec materials, loading supplies onto the truck, moving tents, and re-filling water coolers. This is a physical role and could be great for those who enjoy manual work and are able to healthily move equipment outdoors.

This role is primarily organizational and there is little physical work involved. This crew requires the presence of at least two people who can sit at Check Point and monitor campers who Check In/Check Out at a variety of times during the day. This role is often parent-facing, so this role is perfect for someone who would prefer little physical activity and is great at administrative/organizational skill sets.

All communities are contractually obligated to always have at least one registered nurse or licensed practical nurse on-site when campers are present. COTH is extremely fortunate in this area, and we already have an ambulatory company available to be present each day at camp.

This team is all about making sure our volunteers feel valued, supported, and equipped throughout their time serving. From the moment our volunteers arrive we want them to be welcomed into a community where their contributions matter. This team will provide daily encouragement and stock beverages and meals to keep our volunteers fueled. This team is designed to support our volunteers every step of the way. Whether through morning devotionals, group check-ins, or simply sharing laughs with fellow volunteers, our goal is to ensure everyone serving has an unforgettable and rewarding week. Because when our volunteers are cared for, everyone has the best week ever!

Staffer Care is all about showing love, appreciation, and support to the incredible Summer Staff who make WinShape Camps unforgettable. The majority of the camp staff have been living on the road, traveling from camp to camp for weeks. We want WinShape’s leaders to feel cared for and loved. These dedicated leaders pour their hearts into creating meaningful experiences for campers, and Staffer Care ensures they feel encouraged and cared for throughout the week. From providing home-cooked meals that remind them of home, to helping with laundry so they can focus on serving campers, and assembling thoughtful goodie bags filled with their favorite things, every detail of Staffer Care is designed to refresh and uplift our camp staff. By taking care of the ones who care for others, we help create a camp environment full of joy, energy, and excellence.

The Parking Team plays a vital role in creating a safe and welcoming first impression for campers and their families. This team ensures that traffic flows smoothly by directing vehicles, setting up traffic cones, and guiding families to available parking spots. On the first day of camp, Parking Team members will also point out camper check-in locations, helping families navigate the campus with ease. Throughout the week, the team will monitor the parking lot during carpool drop-offs, ensuring safety and efficiency for everyone. This role is perfect for volunteers who are comfortable being on their feet and working outdoors, all while keeping things running smoothly and safely. By keeping traffic moving and providing clear directions, the Parking Team helps set the tone for a stress-free, fun-filled week at WinShape Camps!

The Prayer Team is a powerful and essential part of WinShape Camps, supporting the entire camp experience through prayer. This role is perfect for individuals who cannot be on campus during the week of camp but still want to make a meaningful impact. Prayer Team members will receive specific prayer focuses for each day, covering campers and their families, summer staff, volunteers, and the local community. By lifting up these groups in prayer, the team plays a vital role in ensuring that hearts are open, connections are made, and lives are transformed throughout the week. Though behind the scenes, the Prayer Team’s impact is felt in every moment of camp, making it one of the most meaningful and appreciated roles at WinShape Camps.

The Friday Family Fun Day Team helps wrap up an incredible week of camp with an epic celebration for campers and their families! This half-day event is packed with fun, featuring water slides, jumpy houses, and all things exciting, topped off with a delicious Chick-fil-A meal for everyone—making it a day to remember.

This team plays a crucial role in both the planning and execution of the event by:

  • Coordinating vendors and event logistics
  • Setting up tents, chairs, and activity areas
  • Welcoming and directing families throughout the celebration.
  • Fostering fellowship and engaging with guests
  • Demonstrating the love and hospitality that Church on the Hill is known for.

If you love creating memorable moments, sharing joy, and ensuring families feel welcome, the Friday Family Fun Day Team is the perfect opportunity to make a lasting impact and end camp with a bang!
