All In: Multiplying Disciples

Some acts of service are visible.

Others are quiet, but deeply sacred.

For Gay, serving at Church on the Hill for the past 11 years has been a steady invitation to participate in God’s work by helping people feel known, welcomed, and loved, the very foundation of multiplying disciples.

Saying Yes to God’s Work

Gay serves across the life of the church: on the Connections Team, as a Life Group Leader, and with WinShape Camp. Through each of these roles, she has discovered that disciple-making doesn’t always begin with teaching; it often begins with presence, hospitality, and relationship.

“I want to be a part of God’s work. It blesses me more than what I am able to give.”

By faithfully showing up and walking alongside others, Gay is helping create spaces where faith can take root and grow.

When the Ordinary Becomes Sacred

One of the most meaningful expressions of Gay’s service has been her time on the Connections Team, where she has faithfully served for over a decade.

No matter how she arrives on campus, rested or weary, encouraged or discouraged, something shifts the moment she begins greeting people.

“What may seem small often becomes sacred.”

A smile.
A hug.
A timely word.

In those simple moments, God works powerfully. What begins as a warm welcome often becomes the first step in someone’s discipleship journey.

A Life Shaped by Disciple-Making

Serving has shaped Gay spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. It continually brings her back to the heart of Jesus’ command: to love God fully and love her neighbor as herself.

As she gives of herself, she finds herself more surrendered to the Holy Spirit allowing God to use her obedience to shape both her faith and the faith of others.

The peace, encouragement, and sense of belonging she experiences while serving doesn’t end on Sunday. It carries into her week, reinforcing her purpose and deepening her walk with Christ.

Outside of church, Gay enjoys time with family, exercising, reading, working puzzles, Bible study, and continuing to grow in her faith.

Why It’s Worth It

When Gay encourages someone who is considering volunteering, her message comes from lived experience.

“It will bring more joy to your life than you can ever give.”

Serving transforms us as it impacts others.
