Psalm 8
- The Psalms Psalm 8:1-9
- Brian Butcher
In this powerful message from Psalm 8, Pastor Brian explores what happens when the majesty of God meets the meekness of humanity. Set during Serve Week at Church on the Hill, this sermon reminds us that God often chooses ordinary, humble people to display His extraordinary power and love in the world.
Psalm 8 begins and ends with the declaration, “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth,” centering the entire passage on the greatness of God. Yet in the middle of that majesty, David marvels that God would care for humanity at all. Why would the Creator of the universe choose to work through weak and ordinary people—even children—to accomplish His purposes?
This message highlights a consistent theme throughout Scripture: God uses the humble, the overlooked, and the meek to advance His Kingdom. From David to the disciples to Jesus Himself, God’s power is most clearly displayed through surrendered lives.
When we surrender our pride and step into compassionate service, the Kingdom of God becomes visible to the world.
