Serving Opportunities

  • Weekend Food Program Purchasing
    • Purchasing food ministry items and delivers to the church based on pre-set menu and budget
    • Weekly or biweekly
  • Weekend Food Program Staging
    • Setting up and counting out all the food for ease and efficiency of the packing team
    • One hour, once a month
  • Weekend Food Program Packing
    • Packing pre-counted food items into grocery bags
    • One hour, once a month
  • Weekend Food Program Delivery
    • Delivering packed food bags directly to children’s doorsteps
    • One hour, once a month
  • GCPL Food and Hygiene Pantry
    • Purchasing and/or stocking the library pantry
    • One hour, 2-3 times a month

This group works closely with the Connections Director by providing comfort and the ministry of presence at Funerals, Memorial or Celebration of Life services. The primary roles are as Ushers and Hospitality. Service on this team is typically on a weekday and during the day. There may be services on Saturday or Sunday.

  • Ushers: Assist people attending the services by greeting them at the door, escorting them to the service, assist with finding a seat, and answering any questions. Providing assistance to the family as they gather before the service.
  • Hospitality: Help with the coordination of the post service reception/repast which typically includes a meal. This can include room preparation and decoration, food coordination, food preparation and food service.   
  • Connect Desk
    • Providing information to our guests and members to connect and engage at Church on the Hill
    • 30 minutes before and after the 11 o’clock service, once a month
  • Greeters
    • Welcoming new guests and returning members as they arrive at service.  Fielding questions from new guests and directing them to the Connect Desk for more information.
    • 30 minutes before either service, once a month.
  • Ushers
    • Stationed by worship center and chapel doors, ushers seat guests and pass offering baskets. One Sunday morning a month either at the 9:30 or 11:00 am service
    • 1.5 hours, once a month
  • Coffee Team
    • Making coffee and putting out with supplies in the Café. Cleaning up and putting away supplies and washing carafes.
    • 9:30 -12:15 Sundays, once a month 
  • Assessing and assisting congregation and community members with minor-moderate home repairs.
  • Time investment depends on the scope of the project.
  • Weekday Admin
    • Print curriculum and help with basic administrative office duties
    • Weekdays: 10 hours/week
  • Curriculum Prep
    • This fun team preps curriculum for small group leaders
    • Weekdays: 3-4 hours, 2-3x/month
  • Theme Team
    • Decorate Kids' environments, bringing each series to life
    • Weekday: 1 day/month (last week of each month)
  • Volunteer Appreciation
    • Seeking coordinator who will implement plan to bless volunteers
    • Weekday: 3-4 hours/month
  • Check-in Hosts
    • The busiest spot on the Hill for parents & key to a good 1st impression! 
    • 2-3 hosts/week
    • Sunday: 10:30 – 11:15 AM; 1x/month
  • Elementary Small Group Leader
    • Lead kids through age-specific, prepared activities that help them understand the large group lesson
    • Sunday:11 AM; 1-2x/month
  • Preschool Small Group Leader
    • Lead kids through age-appropriate activities that support the weekly Bible lesson
    • Sunday: 11 AM; 1x/month
  • 9:30 Childcare
    • Be part of our 9:30 childcare team!
    • Sunday: 9:30 AM; 1x/month
  • Praise & Worship
    • This team will dance, sing and lead both elementary and preschool large group praise time! We will also mentor the 4th-5th grade volunteers.
    • Serve as frequently as you like!
  • Large Group Host & Dynamic Storyteller
    • Quick wit? Funny? Do others listen when you talk? We are building large group teams in preschool and elementary!
    • Sunday: 11 AM; 1x/month
  • Babies & Crawlers
    • Come love our littlest friends on the Hill!
    • Sunday: 11 AM; 1x/month
  • Special Events
    • Can we call on you to lend a hand with special events? 
      • Ex: Trunk-or-Treat, Easter, VBS
    • As needed

Adults (age 21 – 101) facilitating small groups sessions as they do life together to grow in their faith. The commitment is flexible: once a month up to weekly depending upon the group. The day of the week, time of day and location is also flexible.  Training is provided. No experience required just a welcoming spirit and willingness to encourage people to grow in their faith. You will be supported by the Director of Christian Education to identify resources.

  • Security
    • Working from the main security video room, the Security Video Team Member will monitor live video feeds for any activities that need to be investigated or addressed by the other members of the Security Team working that Sunday. 
    • One Sunday morning a month (approximately 4 hours)
  • High School Small Group Leader
    • Mentoring high school boys and girls through building relationships and facilitating discussions each week in a small group
    • Weekly from 5:45pm-8:00pm in the youth building
  • Middle School Small Group Leader
    • Mentoring middle school boys and girls through building relationships and facilitating discussions each week in a small group.
    • Weekly from 10:45am-12:15pm in the youth building
  • Student Van Driver
    • Helping pick up students from Rose Hill, Eagle Creek, and Brett Drive neighborhoods to bring them to children’s and student ministry groups
    • About 1.5 hours once a month on Sunday mornings.
  • Student Leadership Team
    • Developing leadership skills in high school students through lessons, discussions, and activities
    • SLT meets from 3:30-5:30pm twice a month on Sundays
  • Next Gen Administration
    • Helping the Next Gen team with administrative work each week. It could involve scheduling volunteers, scheduling emails, and activities like that
    • Up to 4 hours weekly
  • Audio
    • Assist Sound Engineer, Ryan Nunn, with preparation and tear down, before and after rehearsals and services. Also will be trained on sound equipment in Worship Center, Chapel, and Student Bldg., and as proficiency is met will be running sound for events.
  • Lighting Design and Gripping
    • Assist Worship Director in hanging, wiring, and programming lighting for services. Times vary. Available to High School age and up.
  • Board Operators
    • Run programmed lighting console for worship services and other events. Requires attendance at rehearsals on the days that you are serving: Sundays 8:30AM. Available to Middle School age and up.
  • Imaging
    • Running ProPresenter software for imaging on screens. Requires attendance at rehearsals prior to events that you are serving: Sundays 8:30AM. Available to Middle School age and up.
  •  Producers
    • Producers are in charge of “calling the show” for Audio, Lighting, Imaging, and Cameras. They will need to be very familiar with all aspects of the service prior to Sunday mornings, and attend the rehearsals. Available to Adults only.
    • Twice a month, 8:30-12:15 Sunday morning
  • Camera Team
    • Filming services. Training will be provided.
    • Once-twice a month, 8:45-9:30 or 10:15-12:30
  • Stage Hands
    • Be available on Sundays beginning at 8:00AM. Stage hands will assist the Producer with various duties of stage managing. They will be on headset during the services and assist band, pastors, and producers.
  • Production Set Design and Construction
    • Will assist the Worship Director with designing, building/construction and load-in, load-out of any new set designs. Usually changes quarterly, in addition to Christmas and possibly Easter, and/or Special Events.
  • Video Shooting and Editing
    • Want to learn to shoot and edit video? This is for you. Times vary. Will train. We have the equipment. Available to Middle School age and up.
  • IMAG Production Team
    • Operating cameras and handling switching between camera angles
    • 1-2 Sundays per month either from 8:30-10
  • Worship Band Singers
    • Singing for Contemporary worship services. Requires audition for placement.
    • Rehearse at 8:30AM on Sunday mornings. Available to High School age and up.
    • When scheduled, 8:30-12:15 Sundays
  • Band members
    • Need keyboard players, guitarists, bassists, drummers, string players. Upper level proficiency on instrument required. Rehearse at 8:30AM on Sunday mornings. Available to High School age and up.
    • When scheduled, 8:30-12:15 Sundays
  • Worship Choir/Ensemble
    • Open to all singers with a heart for worship. Group gets together only around every other month and will sing at Contemporary services. Rehearsals vary. Available to Middle School age and up.
    • When scheduled, 8:00-9:30 Sundays
  • Traditional Service Singers
    • Singing for Traditional worship services. Requires audition for placement. Rehearsals vary. Available to High School age and up.
  • Traditional Service Worship Coordinator
    • Running logistics for the Chapel and coordinating tech team and church staff
    • Twice a month, 8-10:30 Sundays
  • Communion Preparation
    • Working with our Worship Assistant to prepare for each week’s Communion service. This requires one day prior to the service, and the Sunday morning before both services to set up. Preparing will involve cutting up bread, both regular and gluten-free, and placing it into labeled bags twice a month. You will be asked to stage Communion dishes and fill them accordingly for each service every Sunday.
  • Communion Server
    • Serving either the bread or juice for Communion towards the end of service
    • Once a month at either service
