Danielle Wunn: Showing Up to Make a Difference
October 9, 2026
For Danielle Wunn, serving at Church on the Hill has been part of her family’s story for nearly 16 years.
Danielle and her husband, Chris, began attending shortly after their daughter Arabella was born. Chris’s mom and aunt were already part of Church on the Hill, and it felt like the right place for their growing family.
“We realized that it was going to take more than Mom and Dad to raise a child, especially if we wanted our children to know Jesus,” Danielle shared.
That desire for her children to grow up surrounded by people who love and follow Jesus eventually became an invitation for Danielle to help create that same kind of environment for other children.
Growing Up and Serving Together
Danielle began volunteering in Kids Ministry when Arabella was just two years old, starting with toddlers and continuing to serve as her own children grew.
“We grew and volunteered with her, and we just kept wanting to pour into younger kids,” she said.
Today, Danielle teaches large group for kindergarten through fifth grade, sharing Bible stories and helping kids understand how a relationship with Jesus can shape their everyday lives.
For Danielle, that opportunity carries special meaning.
“I get to tell them what they can do in everyday life to be closer to Jesus,” she said. “It makes a difference for me to empower all these kiddos with His ways that will help them live and grow in Jesus, knowledge that I didn’t have when I was a child.”
There’s something particularly meaningful about watching those truths begin to take root.
“I love seeing the kids praise Jesus and get it!” Danielle said. “And I love helping them have fun, too.”
Helping People Feel at Home
Danielle’s heart for serving extends beyond Kids Ministry. She also serves on the Connections Team, offering live welcomes on Sunday mornings, and volunteers at The Block Community Outreach when her schedule allows.
Welcoming people to Church on the Hill has become another way Danielle gets to share what she loves about her church family.
“I love welcoming people to my church!” she said. “It’s fun to welcome them in and let them know we are a friendly church who prays and wants to connect people. We are better together.”
Whether she’s standing in front of a room full of children or welcoming the congregation on a Sunday morning, Danielle’s desire is the same: to help people know they belong and point them toward Jesus.
And along the way, serving has impacted her, too.
Being part of something beyond herself has strengthened Danielle’s connection to her church, her family, and her faith. It has also given her the opportunity to use what God has placed in her hands to make a difference in someone else’s life.
Just Try It
Danielle’s encouragement to someone wondering whether they should serve is refreshingly simple:
“Just try it! You don’t have to do it forever!”
Serving doesn’t have to begin with a lifelong commitment. It can begin with simply being willing to step into an opportunity and discover where God might use you.
“Chances are you will find a place that God can use you to make a difference in someone else’s life,” Danielle said. “It feels so good to be part of something bigger than myself.”
That’s part of what it means to go ALL IN, recognizing that God can use our willingness, our gifts, and even our simple decision to show up to help someone else know and experience the love of Jesus.
When Danielle isn’t serving, you’ll likely find her working out, walking, watching her kids play flag football or ride horses, spending time with Chris, or traveling whenever she gets the chance.
But wherever she is, her story is a reminder that following Jesus isn’t something we do alone. We grow together. We serve together. We help the next generation know Him together.
Because we really are better together.
