Acts: Who Is Really Free?
- Acts 16:11-40
- Brian Butcher
We all know what it feels like to be held captive by something. Fear, anxiety, the need for control, unforgiveness, sin, or the opinions of others can keep us from experiencing the life God desires for us. In Acts 16, Paul and Silas remind us that true freedom is not determined by our circumstances.
Even while sitting in a prison cell, they prayed and sang praises to God because they knew that the presence of Christ brings a freedom that chains and walls cannot take away. This message invites us to ask an important question: What is holding us captive? Through prayer and praise, we are reminded that Jesus is still setting people free and that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
